Meet Sarah
As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe, welcoming and casual environment for you to share your experiences and feel heard. I want clients to feel comfortable being their authentic self with me. I approach therapy from a client-centered lens; meaning I want to meet you where you are at and ensure your needs are met at each appointment. I know what it feels like to be the client and how hard it can be to ask for help. I want you to know that we are on the same team and there is hope.

I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, whether from a single event or many years of disappointment, sadness, mistreatment or your needs not being met. My goal is to help you regulate your emotions, process triggers and experiences, and help you return to a happier, more fulfilling life. My other specialties include depression, anxiety and grief. Grief training includes topics of death, dying, bereavement, chronic illness, pets and grief associated with infertility. My approach involves a balance between emotional processing and action steps to you help feeling better.

I was drawn to therapy after countless failed attempts of 'self care'. I thought self care was bubble baths, face masks, yoga and pampering. But what happens when you don't have the spare time or money for those things? Plus they never actual helped me feel better. Instead, I focus on real self care - building sustainable skills to improve your mood which also help you process unresolved trauma and negative experiences.
Psychotherapy and Counselling
I believe psychotherapy is unique to each person because everyone has their own experiences, history, and reactions to events. I typically begin with learning more about your past and present life experiences and how they shape who you are today. This approach can vary depending on your goals and current concerns. But typically this helps us get to know each other and create a plan to accomplish your desired goals.

My approach can differ depending on the unique client. I will use humour, swearing, and pop culture references where appropriate and encourage clients to do the same. My goals is for therapy to be relaxed and comfortable, while being effective and productive. Ultimately I want to offer simple and attainable appraoches to therapy that help you feel heard heard, grow and create change that feels right for you.
